SUPPORT for COMMUNITY

RAISING THE STANDARD

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.

At Standard Scaffold & Insulation Services Inc. (SSI) we pay attention to each interaction we have with people, with our communities and our stakeholders.  That’s where and when trust is built, and, where meaningful relationships begin.  The leadership and management of SSI are all people who have a history of community volunteerism.  Our President’s (Jon Hokanson’s) heritage includes prominent business and community builders and Jon mentors the same within SSI.

Our Community Engagement to date has focused on supporting youth development, families in need, and healthy lifestyles.

Community Support examples:

Junior Achievement (JA) is the only organization in AB/ NWT that teaches entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy to students at all levels of the school system.  Our President, Jon Hokanson, serves on the JA Volunteer Board of Directors volunteers in the classroom couple of times per year.  SSI annually purchases a table at the JA fundraiser, The Alberta Business Hall Of Fame.

The mission of the Bissell Centre is to work with others to empower people to move from poverty to prosperity, enabling people to meet their own basic daily needs, participate in community, have sustainable livelihoods, feel hope for the future, and make plans for a prosperous life. Their slogan is “Where Hope Finds Help”.  In 2015 SSI performed a drive for Winter coats, gloves and mittens.

The Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA) Day of Mourning Charity 3on3 Ball Hockey Tournament raises funds for charity in recognition and support for families who have lost someone due to a workplace tragedy.  We empathize deeply with these families and admire the support given by the ACSA.  In 2016 The SSI team volunteered as a group.

Established in 1974, the Nor’Westers Athletic Association offers sports & recreation programs to the Edmonton Region (Age 6 to 65) based upon the values of respect, teamwork, discipline, excellence and fun.  SSI has contributed since 2013, providing youth teams with new uniforms, hiring club members as employees and more.

The Spartan Race is a mission driven company committed to making the world a better place.  We believe you can’t have a strong body without a strong mind, we believe that obstacles make us stronger.  With more than 130 races around the world annually, we also offer a kids race (½ – 1 mile) and Special Spartans (for racers with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities).

The Great Canadian Fitness Festival “ Edmonton FitFest” is here to provide an unintimidating environment for adults of any age or fitness level to come and try new types of physical activity.  SSI sponsored The American Ninja Warrior competition at the festival in 2017.

The Canadian Ultimate Championships (CUC) is an annual national championships bringing together single gender adult teams (open, women, masters open, masters women, and mixed) from across the country to compete for the National Title.  SSI were a Platinum Sponsor for the 2016 (CUC) tournament in Edmonton.
